To
become a successful elocutionist, one needs to
be conscious of the following and adopt them uncompromisingly...
|
| 1. |
To
be able to grasp the inner meaning of the poem
and not be bogged down by only physical rhyme
and rhythm. From this understanding is born the
skill to properly enunciate the words, project
the voice and smoothly ride along with the natural
rhythm of the poem.
Only then can one ensure a proper "Visualisation"
of the poem and a successful "picturisation"
for the audience.
|
| 2. |
Like
a singer, a successful elocutionist needs to have
full control of the vocal range and to be able
to create the proper audio appeal.
|
| 3. |
Correctness
of pronunciations is a 'must'. The tongue must
be trained to glide smoothly over all the letters
of the alphabets - regardless of the language.
|
| 4. |
A
basic knowledge of rhetoric and prosody, particularly
of metric scausion immensely helps the beginner.
|
| 5. |
One
must learn wher to stop and for how long to be
able to correctly convey the sense of the poem
on prose piece..
|
| 6. |
A
successful elocutionist needs to be up-to-date
and 'contemporary' in the field of general information
and knowledge - as this can immensely help him
to select appropriate pieces for recitation.
|
| 7. |
There
is nos substitute to being diligent and sincere.
