Learning,
as it is a continuous process, also started in an early
age, very gradually with the first moments of my conscious
perceptions –during those early days at Hridaypur My
parents had been of immense inspiration.I can never
forget of my special
audience, without whom I could never have flaunted my
fancy, they were my friends who would listen to my valiant
attempts at reciting nursery rhymes, And the same learning
process continues till this moment – in the company
of the creations of enormous minds – the poets
and philosophers who teach me at every waking hour of
my life – and, of course, a mature audience that
encourages me and their candid felicitation drives me
to touch excellence.
I
continue to be deeply enthused by the stalwarts and
masters of the performing arts of yesteryear and today.
It's a long list of names that I recall with admiration
and veneration – Suchitra Mitra (from whom I took
music lessons for some time), the great thespian Sambhu
Mitra, the redoubtable Kazi
Sabyasachi, and their likes, each of whom have a special
niche in my mind, alongwith some of our great contemporary
poets and authors – Nirendra Nath Chakraborty,
Sankha Ghosh, Shakti Chattopadhyay, Sunil Gangopadhyay,
Purnendu Patrea, Dibyendu Palit and younger generation
poets like Subho Dasgupta.
But above all, the towering colossus that engulfs and pervades my entire psyche is none other than Gurudeb Rabindranath Tagore. While in respect of everyone I imbibe and synthesise their individual genius with my own perceptions, it is to Rabindranath that I totally surrender myself. |
